AFRICAN DRUMMING ASSEMBLY: A fun way to celebrate Black History Month. Students will play African drums, learn proper technique, learn rhythms, perform together (demonstrate the elements of music) and go on a musical journey from early Africa to modern times. We bring in 90 drums. Students will drum, sing, dance and interact as they discover how people of African heritage have influenced many genres of music.
MUSIC AROUND THE WORLD - This hands-on workshop is modified for JK to Grade 12 (see our Youtube video) A hands-on music experience that allows students to express, create and perform music. Students will be playing musical instruments from beginning to end as they visit Africa, South Asia, China, the Middle East, Russia, Europe, the Caribbean Islands and return home to Canada. FUNDAMENTALS OF MUSIC (Includes Student Assessment) - For K to Grade 8. This fun, hands-on workshop helps satisfy the Ontario curriculum. Students will create rhythms and melodies, demonstrate the six elements of music as they perform world music as a group, and express emotions through music. Teachers are invited to assess students as they create, express and perform music in this workshop.
MUSIC ACROSS THE CURRICULUM - Through hands-on drumming activities, K to grade 12 students will experience the music connection in math, science, history, geography, language, drama, and dance. This fun and memorable workshop provides inspiration, motivation and fuels imagination.
EARLY SOCIETIES THROUGH MUSIC, DANCE AND DRAMA - Grade 4 Ancient Societies
Students will uncover, hold and explore ancient artifacts, strum ancient instruments, dance, enjoy sword activities, and participate in fun skits that demonstrate the Roman Conquest and the Silk Road. Ancient Egypt, China, Rome, Greece, Mesopotamia, India and Maya are explored. In the last of hour of this half-day workshop, students may explore Medieval Times artifacts and enjoy music, dance and drama activities. This workshop also sells out each year. FIRST NATIONS DRUMMING AND DANCE - Hands-on Drumming and Dance Workshop or Assembly. Presented by a talented First Nations performer.
