School Workshops

ELEMENTS OF MUSIC AND
DANCE - students will learn the proper technique for playing hand drums, learn to play world rhythms, polyrhythms, and compose their own rhythms as they demontrate the elements of music (Unit C1.1 of the Music Curriculum). Your class will learn the elements of dance through a memorable interactive demonstration.  Students will apply and identify the elements of dance as they participate in simple traditional folk dances from around the world..  For JK to 8.  Available in French and English.
MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS OF THE WORLD - students will hold, explore and play musical instruments from around the world in this popular hands-on workshop. Lessons are modified for JK to 8 with links to the science, social studies (history) and music curriculum.
ABORIGINAL MUSIC, DANCE AND CULTURE - for JK to grade 8.  This workshop satisfies A1 of the Ontario dance curriculum.  Students will perform on Aboriginal drums, use the elements of dance to express emotions and themes, and learn lessons that address the social studies/history curriculum.
ANCIENT CIVILIZATIONS TRAVELLING MUSEUM
-  grade 5 students will uncover mysteries of the ancient world as they hold and explore artefacts, play ancient musical instruments, and participate in ancient games and sports.  Your class will learn about Ancient China, Egypt, Rome, Greece, Maya and Mesopotamia through memorable  hands-on activities. Curriculum based lessons address social studies, science, music, dance and drama. 
ESSENTIALS OF THE MEDIEVAL TIMES UNIT - grade 4 students will hold, explore and play medieval musical instruments and try medieval dancing as they learn about the Feudal System, the Crusades, the Black Plague, the Magna Carta, as well as Entertainment, Dance, Medieval Musicians, Music, and Musical Instruments.
MUSIC, DANCE AND TRADITIONS OF WORLD CULTURES - grade 2 students will hold, explore and play musical instruments from around the world and participate in dances from diverse cultures as they learn about holiday traditions around the world.  Available in French and English.
JK/SK MUSIC, DANCE AND DISCOVER - students will hold, explore, drum and strum a variety of world instruments, march in a musical parade, dance, sing and participate in other fun and educational musical activities. The facilitator concludes by playing the banjo while students sing and dance to the music.   Available in French and English.

World Drum Circle - this very popular family activity begins every half hour and runs approximately 20 minutes.
Hands-on Exhibit of Musical Instrument from Around The World - this is a fun and educational activity for all ages
Strolling Minstrel - a musician dresses in period costume and performs on a period instrument
Stage Shows - our bands perform rock n roll, country, and other styles of music to suit your venue

Summer and March Break Camps
World Music Activities - half day and full day actvities that are fun and educational, campers will play drums from around the world and strum musical instruments from diverse cultures. We can include dance activities and modify the activities to address your theme.
