John Binions - Guitar & Vocals |
The Band Don Ryan was born and raised in suburbs of Toronto and started writing songs on the guitar at the age of 14. Don started drumming at the age of 20 and has performed at bars around Toronto for many years. Don sings back-up vocals and performs on stage with infectious energy. Wilson Pickett, Burton Cummings, and the Beatles are some of the artists that influence Don's musical style. Don also hosts karaoke nights in Southern Ontario with his partner Laura. John Binions, also from the Toronto area, has been playing and studying guitar technique for many years. He has attended many guitar and songwriting workshops even sharing the stage with Chet Atkins at one occasion. His rockabilly licks and Buddy Holly tunes are especially popular. An avid Beatles fan, John has polished an excellent George Harrison playing style as well. In addition you will also hear Scotty Moore, Danny Gatton, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Randy Bachman techniques in John's playing. John is now in the band Jetsteam and still performs with Flashback at special events. We extend our thanks to the following friends and musicians who have played with Flashback at numerous events... Laura, Bruce, Todd, Bob, Ben, Steve, Doug, Kenn, and John. Blaine McKenzie is an original band member who has now formed his own group, The Telewhackers, but still may be seen rejoining Flashback for selected performances."He was born in Downsview and grew up north of Toronto. Self-taught, he began playing boogie-woogie on the family piano as a child. He eventually picked up guitar on his own as well. He has played with bands around the GTA and also writes songs. Look for influences in his music ranging from Jerry Lee Lewis and Ray Charles to Eric Clapton. |
